What is Vigex?

VIGEX is a word derived from Victoria Geelong Exhibition, and its committee conducts, in Geelong, in the State of Victoria, Australia:
- International Photographic Competitions, and
- Exhibitions for Photographic Prints and Digital Projected Images.
Approved by…
Each exhibition is conducted with approval from:
- the Australian Photographic Society Inc.,
- the Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique (the International Federation of Photographic Art), and
- the Photographic Society of America, in line with the requirements of these organisations.
It is also supported by the Victorian Association of Photographic Societies (VAPS).
VIGEX has been running successfully since its inception in 1980.
Print and Digital Salons
Additionally,
- one year, the exhibition is a Print Salon, and
- the next year will be a Digital Projected Image Salon.
First Sponsor
The Victorian Government was the first sponsor, soon followed by the first major private sponsor Alcoa of Australia Limited.
Many other local and national Australian sponsors have contributed over the years, including local municipal councils.
Open to All
VIGEX is open to both professional and amateur photographers.
Volunteers
All VIGEX Committee members and helpers are unpaid volunteers.
